Learner Driver Lessons

To help us provide an accurate quote, please complete the enquiry form with your postcode, gearbox choice, and preferred lesson times (weekday or weekend). Additional useful information includes your previous driving experience, any booked practical test (with date and location), and any other relevant details. We treat every learner as an individual. Lessons are tailored to your experience, learning style, pace, and goals. We also provide additional out-of-car resources to accelerate your development, helping you become a safe driver for life, not just to pass your test.

No, passing your theory test is not required to begin practical lessons. However, studying theory first can make your practical lessons easier and more effective.

Booking lessons is easy! Simply click the “Contact Us” button on any page, or reach out to us directly using the contact details provided. We’ll guide you to the best starting point for your learning goals.

The number of hours varies by learner, but the UK national average is 45 hours of lessons plus 20 hours of supervised practice. You can practice in your own car if the accompanying driver is over 21, holds a full driving licence for at least 3 years, and your insurance covers learner drivers

Taylor's Driving Training Aids

The Magnetic Driver Training Aid was created by Elton, founder of Taylors Driving School and Taylors Driving Training Aids. With years of experience training drivers, multiple road safety qualifications, and the highest possible driving instructor score (51/51), Elton ensures the content is accurate and effective. By using the magnetic pieces, worksheets, and built-in whiteboard, instructors can visually demonstrate complex driving scenarios, conduct fault analysis, and deliver structured, engaging lessons that learners can easily understand and retain.

Absolutely. With its built-in whiteboard and movable magnetic pieces, instructors can create custom layouts, recreate incidents, or demonstrate learner-specific scenarios, making lessons flexible, reflective, and tailored to each student’s needs

The Highway Code Training Aid is ideal for learner drivers, driving instructors (ADIs & PDIs), and driving schools. It’s especially useful for learners who benefit from visual and interactive teaching methods. Instructors can use it in the classroom, during theory lessons, or as part of in-car briefings.

The Magnetic Driver Training Aid is suitable for learner drivers of all levels, as well as ADIs, PDIs, and driving schools. Its interactive, visual approach helps learners understand road situations, recognise hazards, and improve their driving skills.

Yes. The Magnetic Driver Training Aid includes worksheets and scenarios designed around the ADI core competencies – Identify, Analyse, Remedy – and covers common UK driving situations like roundabouts, junctions, hazards, and lane positioning, ensuring lessons meet official training requirements.

No. This training aid is not a definitive guide to the Highway Code. It is designed as an interactive visual companion to help learners and instructors explain and understand road signs, markings, and lines more effectively. Learners should still use The Highway Code and Know Your Traffic Signs for full legal and safety guidance.

The aid explains road signs by category, shape, and colour, making over 500 UK road signs easier to learn and remember. Learners can see warnings, mandatory instructions, and informational signs in context, which helps them understand their purpose and placement, and promotes safer driving habits.

School of Amateur Instructors

The School of Amateur Instructors is an online course designed to help supervising drivers who are not professionally trained provide effective support to learner drivers. It teaches the essential skills and knowledge needed to make private practice safe and productive.

The course saves time and money by ensuring in-car practice is effective and structured. It also gives supervisors the accurate road knowledge required to support learners and ensures that practice sessions contribute to real skill development.

The course is currently under development and will be available to the public in February 2026. You can sign up for our newsletter and mailing list to receive updates and pre-order information as soon as it becomes available.

Driving lessons can cost between £30-£50 per hour, and the DVSA recommends at least 20 hours of additional practice for new drivers. By making the most of supervised practice with this course, you could save over £1,000 and reduce the likelihood of needing a second driving test, which could cost significantly more.

The course focuses on two key areas: what to teach and how to teach it. It simplifies basic teaching techniques and provides supervisors with the knowledge they need to help learners get the most out of their practice sessions.

The course was created by Elton, founder of Taylors Driving School and Taylors Driving Training Aids. With years of experience training drivers of all levels, multiple road safety qualifications, and the highest possible driving instructor score (51/51), Elton ensures the content is accurate and reliable. You can verify his credentials via Google reviews and the Gov.uk website
